The Action Painting, in which many might mistakenly identify abstract expressionism (one of the fathers was certainly Kandinsky), is a painting technique in which color is dripped spontaneously, is started or precipitated onto the canvas or other support, making the work a unique and unrepeatable physical act. Dare I even say that '"art event" consists precisely in the act, which will lead to the painting, which is "only" the end result.
By using this technique to study the opera gives way to an instinctive and primitive way of painting. It 'a painting immediate, free, spontaneous, in whom the whole body is involved in the making of the artist, whose execution is mostly assigned to the gesture of the arm. It is the expression of a mood, an outbreak of an energy boost, the explosion of an inner impulse that isn't expressed according to a predetermined plan, but it follows almost automatically an uncontrollable impulse of deep (with obvious references to Dadaism Expressionism, but also to Surrealism).
The first to speak of Action Painting was the American critic Harold Rosenberg in 1952, in his article ("At one point the painting appeared as an arena in which to act").
The style of Action Painting soon became widespread in the forties and the seventies of last century, involving both American and European artists (Hartung, de Kooning, Rothko, Congdon, Gorky, Guston, Scanavino and many others).
The most representative exponent of this "way of painting" was definitely Jackson Pollock, American painter, which this year marks the centenary of his birth.
Great influence on Pollock, in the development of this technique (and of course the Freudian theory and its frequent visits with a psychiatrist, Jungian who showed his drawings), were the Native Americans and their shamanic painting, through which the man of medicine derived interpretations and omens of the gods.
The spirit speaks through the body of a man and his gestures, as he travels in different dimensions and dropping to the ground its colored sands.
The picture thus obtained is also an object of power in shamanism, in fact, we consider all objects of art as objects of power as they contain energy that is reflected towards the people who watch them. The spirits suggest the colors and strokes of the painting that will act for the benefit of those who will be the owner.
And surely the power of artistic expression is to boost its capacity to regenerate physical and mental, to bring out their potential, lead to better know ourselves in order to achieve even greater prosperity.
It's necessary to rediscover the colors that are in us, paint with the soul, in connection with the Source. It's necessary to explore new possibilities, and recover our energy to flow through forms and colors that we "talk" about something that needs to see the light, to be released.
The painting takes shape little by little, without judgment, far from pre-packaged concepts, with love, brings emotions, the colors vibrate and will always continue to say something new, and perhaps forever. It's necessary to be able to immerse themselves in a part of this color and feed the white canvas that calls this color. Will the painting itself, which then tells us what he wants! So the Spirit has discovered the body through which can communicate.
"The language of the heart is something that few men who live in city grow, why not make yourself be guided by feelings. However, using the very language of the head, they are cold. The city man is always eager to learn new things, filling his head with many concepts that run the vacuum in his mind. they do swell of vanity and pride, because you think you know everything. Not really they know anything. Their brain is a tangled nest of thoughts mixed with fears, and in this way the head gets hot and the body is deranged. Still listening to the brain, they forget the heart, stops him and eventually his heart becomes silent. And this is not the only part of the body to suffer, but the whole organism. The city men away from their alliance with the Earth, so also themselves. "
"It's necessary to know the natural laws that allow you to understand the earth and the principles that redirect his life. Only by knowing these principles you can understand the message of nature that is found in water, wind, into the light, minerals, plants, in animals and in man himself. It's the only way you can understand the reasons why our people feel and act. Knowing these principles, you will throw open the gates of wisdom. "
(
In the eyes of the shaman, Hernàn Huarache Mamani)
In the language of the heart is sealed and deposited the true essence of man, who finds his own nature, its simplicity and spontaneity, freed from the bondage of time and habits that corrupted it. So the body finds the spirit and the spirit has a body refound.
